Our story
Started on a trading floor in reporting week.
In 2023, Maren Lindqvist was covering European semiconductors at a mid-sized fund. In reporting week she had eleven calls on one Thursday. She listened to four, skimmed three transcripts and missed a margin comment that cost the fund a bad week.
She teamed up with Tomás Ferreira, who had spent eight years building speech recognition for noisy phone lines. The first version of Undertone did one thing: it put two quarters of a company’s calls side by side and highlighted what had changed.
Today Undertone covers more than 14,000 listed companies in 42 markets and is used by over 2,300 investment professionals. The rule hasn’t changed: first-party sources only, and a citation for every sentence.
